Clyde
was
neutered
at
four
months
old.
Pit
bulls
are
especially
hard
to
find
good
and
permanent
homes
for.
Therefore,
many
more
of
them
are
euthanized
for
no
other
reason
than
there
are
not
enough
homes. |
|
With
today's
surgical
procedures,
puppies
and
kittens
can
be
safely
spayed
or
neutered
as
young
as
eight
weeks
of
age.
This
juvenile
spay/neuter
procedure
has
been
available
for
more
than
ten
years.
Shelters
routinely
utilize
juvenile
spay/neuter
in
their
adoption
programs
so
that
no
puppies
or
kittens
leave
the
shelter
unsterilized.
Shown
at
the
left
is
Clyde,
now
over
four
years
old,
who
was
neutered
at
four
months
of
age.
As
you
can
see,
his
muscling,
head
development
and
overall
structure
were
not
negatively
affected
by
neutering
him
at
an
early
age.
"She
should
have
one
litter
first,
to
settle
her
down"
This
is
an
old
wives
tale.
Having
a
litter
willl
not
improve
her
health
or
permanently
change
her
personality — although
she
may
be
tired
and
irritable
while
nursing
offspring.
Every
hour,
about
2,500
puppies
and
kittens
are
born
in
the
U.S.
If
a
dog
or
cat
has
four
offspring
every
year
(a
low
number),
2
of
them
female,
and
each
of
these
females
also
has
four
offspring
each
year,
2
of
them
female,
by
the
seventh
year,
the
original
mother
will
have
4,372
descendants.

|
 |
Each
year,
there
are
over
15
million
animals
destroyed
in
animal
shelters
because
there
are
no
homes
for
them.

Please
spay/neuter
your
pets.
They
will
live
happier,
longer,
healthier
lives. |
